I have been hugely inspired by Jane Brocket’s book, The Gentle Art of Domesticity, and her beautifully presented and authored blog – yarnstorm.

As well as offering inspiration for baking, colour, quilts, knitting and embroidery, the book has really got me thinking about what inspires me and how I can record and consciously think about the beauty in my surroundings.

January in Edinburgh is characteristically grey and dark so I decided to treat myself to a bunch of bright pink and yellow tulips – lasting for a good week this was £2.99 well spent, and I am definitely worth it!

I love the combination of the pink and yellow flowers, bright green stems, and turquoise ceramic vase. Perhaps a colour scheme for a new pair of socks…
